We’re Wrapped to be Taking on a Top Team in the Competition

Port Adelaide are now heading into a difficult spot in season 2024. Reigning Grand Finalists, North Melbourne, are the next challenge for Port Adelaide as the AFLW season rolls on.

“We’re really looking forward to playing North Melbourne in Melbourne. Last year [when] we played them, we were less fit and we were up at half-time from memory,” head coach of Port Adelaide, Lauren Arnell, said.

“Their brand of footy is an exceptional brand.

“It’s something where if you watch closely, you see us working towards that as a team as well.”

Last week was disappointing for Power; they should’ve beaten Fremantle. Instead, they would go down by seven points.

“We went minus 10 contested possession in the last quarter. We didn’t use the wind when we had it.

“One thing to note for our group is that we had 11 18-21-year-olds playing against Fremantle.

“All of their group was above 22. So it’s a bit of experience.

“It’s all about taking the right attitude to learn the right lessons in the right way.”

Port Adelaide now face a congested fixture. Port will play three games in nine days (North, Richmond and Carlton). Arnell opened up on the excitement ahead;

“I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s sort of three games in nine [days] and four games in 16 days starting tomorrow.

“Three of the next four games are away, it’s just opportunities for us.”

The game begins at 4:35 ACST, with Katelyn Pope coming into the line-up for Madeline Keryk for the Power. The game is on 7mate and Kayo. WARF Radio is also offering an audio-only stream.
