SANFL Grand Final Preview

Glenelg and Norwood will do battle in this year’s SANFL grand final. Sunday September the 22nd is the day, with the game starting from 2:30pm.

Norwood have had a great season to date, finishing the regular season games with 15 wins and just three losses.

Premiers from two seasons ago in thrilling fashion with some magic from Matthew Panos, Norwood defeated North Adelaide by a singular point, 8.11.59 to 8.10.58. The Redlegs are eager to get back to that ultimate winning feeling to cap off what has been a great season for them.

Before the ball bounces on Sunday, Norwood will have only played one singular game in the past month, as opposed to Glenelg who have played high stake games for the past month, if not longer.

Glenelg didn’t have their best season to date, but still managed to finish the regular season games in fourth position, with 11 wins and seven losses. Injuries played a part as one of their key cogs up forward in Lachie Hosie missed most of the season, before returning in the preliminary final in great fashion.

Glenelg are premiers from a season ago, defeating Sturt by 24 points, 13.8.86 to 8.14.62. The Tigers would love nothing more than to be back-to-back premiers for just the second time in their history come Sunday evening.

These two sides have met twice this year, in Round 2 and Round 16. The first of the two matchups saw Norwood walk away winners, defeating the Bays 10.11.71 to 7.5.47. The second of the two matchups, Round 16, saw Glenelg get the better of Norwood, defeating the latter by 34 points, 11.15.81 to 6.11.47.

Our prediction: It is going to be a great matchup between these two great sides. Norwood have had a stellar season and Glenelg have found their form at the right point in the season. Glenelg by 13 points at the Adelaide Oval.

Our attendance prediction: Last year’s grand final drew in 33,049 people on a hot day. Expect to see 38,383 people in attendance on Sunday the 22nd.

Catch all the action at 2:30pm live from the Adelaide Oval.
