'We are excited to see what he can do': Yze on Debutant McAuliffe

Debutant Kane McAuliffe certainly has some admirers at Punt Road.

One of those is coach Adem Yze, who sang the praises of the North Adelaide junior after the loss to St Kilda.

"He gave us something, which is good. It's exciting, playing in front of friends and family," Yze said.

"We were really excited that Kane was their to draft when it was our opportunity for our first selection. His attitude, his commitment to the way to get better everyday has been outstanding.

"He's obviously a strong kid. He's ready to play, he's obviously played SANFL footy.

"He really deserved this opportunity, his two VFL games were terrific. For him to get a taste of it today, in front of his home crowd, family, it was just a nice little opportunity for him.

"We are excited to see what he can do for the rest of the year."

Elsewhere, former Hawk Jacob Koschitzke got on the scoreboard for the first time for his side at Norwood.

Yze believes that he has a "young forward line that is learning to play together."

"He'll hold his spot, he deserved his opportunity," he said.

"There would've been a conversation if Lynch and Balta were fit.

"It was good to see him get around the ground and compete."

On the game, Yze praised the effort despite his side's record slipping to 1-4.

"Yeah we felt that, (it just wasn't a game we would win). I feel for our players that try hard each week," he said.

"The effort of our players, their attitudes, (was) strong throughout the game.

"It was the execution, the difference in the polish. When they had momentum in the third, they kicked 6.6 and we had momentum in the last we kicked 2.3."
