This Club Deserves to be in Europe
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou has spoken in Melbourne, making it clear that under him, Tottenham are aiming to be one of the powerhouses in European, and indeed, World football.
“I think that’s the reward for playing well this year [playing in the Europa League]. We’re looking forward to that, it’s another challenge for us, we will be ready for it.
“I think having no European Football this year hurt us a little bit in terms of our development.
“Hopefully we will make an impact next year.”
Spurs captain Son Heung-min was asked about he thought of the season just gone.
“We could do so much better; we have to look forward and its gone, we will learn so much for improvements,” Son began.
“Next season will be so much better, it’s a big opportunity for players to step up in discipline. Where we finish is because of us, not anyone else.”
Closer to England, Postecoglou made it clear he wants a domestic title as well as a European one.
“I don’t think we need to focus on other clubs. We wanna be the best club we can be and strive and aim to beat whoever’s in front of us.” Postecoglou said, in reference to winning a Premier League.
“Whether that’s [Arsenal of Manchester City] you mentioned or other clubs. I don’t think your measure is your opposition clubs, your measure is yourself.”
“Push yourself to be the best you can be, then see where that takes you. If you’re focused on one or two other clubs, then there might be someone else coming up that you don’t even realise.”
“For us, we’ve been okay this year. We’ve progressed this year, for sure. We’ve got a lot of improvement to do, that’s why we will be working hard once we get back for pre-season and be ready for the upcoming season.”
