Meet Your SA SRC Representatives: Tyson Edwards

Get to know your 2023 SA SRC Representatives in this new series!

What school project/campaign group are you in? What’s your group working on at the moment?

I am currently in the student voice group which are currently discussing standards for student voice groups across all South Australian schools.

What was your favourite thing about SA SRC Summit?

I loved getting to meet all the amazing people with similar aspirations to support our young students of South Australia and to make an impact in our world. I loved hearing all the inspiration stories and sharing these with my own student leadership group truly benefited my school’s leadership team in how we operate.

Share something interesting you’ve learnt in an SA SRC workshop.

I found many workshops interesting, however the one I found most interesting was the advocacy strategy workshop where I learned about how to make my voice heard and it was very inspirational to hear the campaigns people have developed and succeeded with.

Top three items on your bucket list?

The top three items on my bucket list would be:

  1. Take a holiday to another country

  2. Move to Adelaide

  3. Go skydiving.

Share a photo of your pet and a few sentences about them.

These are my pets Spud and Reggie. One is a puppy, the other is older. They both like to chase and climb over each other and eat each others’ food.

What’s an issue you’ve felt empowered to raise through SA SRC?

An issue I felt empowered to raise in SA SRC is the vandalism problems that occurred in my school. I felt empowered to raise this and talked to the Education Minister throughout the summit and this led me to take further action inside of my school.
