Feeney Fastest in Practice Three

On a day that could decide a Supercars Championship, Broc Feeney sent a clear message to teammate Will Brown, topping Practice Three with a lap time of 1:19:7849.

Brown finished second, a 1:19:9543 his last, and more importantly, fastest lap of the session.

Yesterday it was turn eight that caused problems, today it was the final corner.   Following a crash in the Trans AM race before the Supercars went onto the track, there were several drivers that were having problems.   Stanaway went for an adventure early in the session, before Aaron Love span across the track and slammed into the tyre bundle.

The back of his car was heavily damaged, but after a pit stop, he was able to get the car out onto the track.

Following yesterday’s insane qualifying, Love qualified for the top 10 shootout, for him to miss would have been an incredibly cruel twist of fate.

Turn eight however didn’t let the session pass without inflicting its own damage. Young gun Ryan Wood had a brush with the wall, however his Walkinshaw Andretti United car stayed in a straight line, minus a mirror.

Wood’s teammate Chaz Mostert has had rotten luck since the Sunday of the Gold Coast 500, where he was taken out of contention for the championship.

After qualifying 22nd for the Race 23 of the Championship late yesterday evening, Mostert’s 1:20:76 lap time was nearly a second slower than Feeney.

With Wood and Mostert both out of the top 10 shootout, attention will turn for Walkinshaw Andretti United toward getting both cars up the order, as they chase Tickford Racing for second in the championship. A grueling 78 laps await.
