Artist Profile: Nina Canala / @outgrown

Nina Canala is a contemporary artist currently working as a graphic designer in Adelaide’s CBD while also completing freelance illustration projects in her spare time.

After beginning her journey with studies of Contemporary Art and Media Arts, Nina is constantly attempting new styles, techniques and mediums to expand her skillset. Recently her main focuses have been digital illustration and design as she builds her portfolio under the name ‘Outgrown’.

Reoccurring themes in Nina’s work are solemn faces, dynamic hands and jagged stars, but the driving force of her works is an eclectic use of vibrant colours. Nina is not afraid to fill the page, often rejecting minimalism and instead embracing the enthusiasm and vivacity of her inner child. Nina is often inspired by music and enjoys referencing her favourite songs/artists in her works as well as employing some of her own creative writing.

Nina’s work is ever-changing as her inspirations constantly shift, hence the name ‘Outgrown’.
